Building Beauty, Community, and Opportunity in Downingtown

A Vision for Inclusive Beauty

How Ebony Bradley and Amber Stewart Are Creating a Multicultural Salon Experience in Chester County

Location: Downingtown
Industry: Beauty & Aesthetic Services
Founders: Ebony Bradley & Amber Stewart

From Experience to Entrepreneurship

Ebony Bradley and Amber Stewart spent years perfecting their craft as estheticians and hair stylists. They built loyal client bases, developed expertise across multiple hair textures and skin types, and understood the importance of representation and inclusivity within the beauty industry.

In 2023, they decided to combine their skills and open their own salon—one designed to serve a multicultural clientele in a relaxed, welcoming environment.

More Than a Salon

The founders envisioned more than styling services. Their goal was to create:

  • A space that celebrates diverse hair and skin care needs

  • A retail selection reflecting multiple product lines

  • An environment where clients feel seen and understood

  • A training hub where beauty professionals can expand their skills

Located at Ashbridge Common Shopping Center, the 2,250-square-foot salon offers space for up to six stylists, a nail technician, and an aesthetician—designed with growth in mind from day one.

Turning Vision into Reality

Transforming an empty commercial space into a fully operational salon required capital. Renovations, equipment purchases, and initial inventory expenses add up quickly for startup founders.

With coordinated financing from Ignite CDFI and the Chester County Economic Development Council, Bradley and Stewart were able to renovate the location, install professional-grade equipment, and launch with the working capital necessary for stability.

The funding allowed them to focus on delivering quality service rather than worrying about early cash flow constraints.

Creating Community Impact

The salon’s impact extends beyond beauty services.

It creates:

  • New employment opportunities for stylists and beauty professionals

  • Training programs that elevate skill development in the industry

  • A retail anchor in a local shopping center

  • A culturally inclusive service model within Chester County

Marketing through social media and word-of-mouth referrals, the salon is building momentum organically—driven by trust, quality, and community engagement.

Looking Ahead

Bradley and Stewart see their salon as the foundation for long-term growth. With space designed to support multiple professionals and educational workshops, the business has scalability built into its model.

Their journey reflects a broader truth: when skilled professionals gain access to the right capital, they can transition from service providers to employers, educators, and community builders.

In Downingtown, that transition is already underway.
