COMUNICADO Para difusión inmediata Sindicato Internacional de Trabajadores Migrantes (IMWU) firma Memorando de Entendimiento con el Departamento de Comercio 

WASHINGTON, Mayo 26, 2023 – 

El Sindicato Internacional de Trabajadores Migrantes (IMWU) firmó un Memorando de Entendimiento (MOU) con la Oficina Federal de Adquisiciones (FPC) de la Agencia de Desarrollo de Negocios Minoritarios (MBDA) del Departamento de Comercio. El MOU fue suscrito el 25 de mayo de 2023 por el presidente del IMWU, Jesus Sánchez Cañete, y el director del FPC, Keith Moore. 

El FPC tiene como objetivo ayudar a empresas minoritarias (MBE) para que obtengan contratos del gobierno, bajo la autoridad del Departamento de Comercio, así como acceso a capital y la preparación para que presenten licitaciones, consigan y desarrollen contratos primarios y subcontratos en el gobierno federal y en el área de Defensa. 

La misión del IMWU es representar a trabajadores migrantes en Estados Unidos para que obtengan beneficios colectivos a favor de su membresía, promover el bienestar de los miembros, defender sus derechos y promover una comunicación fluida entre el trabajador y el empleador. 

El MOU define el apoyo y servicios que la FPC acepta realizar para el IMWU y sus miembros que reúnen los requisitos para que sean sus clientes. La FPC invitará a firmas afiliadas del IMWU a eventos relacionados a contratos de una industria en particular, gobierno o Defensa. Asimismo, se les ofrecerá oportunidades de capacitación en varios sectores industriales que la FPC o sus afiliados realicen. 

A su vez, el IMWU referirá a firmas de su membresía a la FPC para que reciban apoyo sobre adquisiciones federales y en oportunidades de subvenciones especiales, incluyendo enlaces de firmas de propiedad de minorías con grandes firmas de Fortune 1000 Prime Contractors. Los esfuerzos conjuntos incluyen asistencia técnica y capacitación, así como orientaciones estratégicas de trabajo en equipo en respuesta a solicitudes sobre adquisiciones y subvenciones.

La FPC también ofrece en el marco del MOU servicios gratuitos bajo la autoridad de la MBDA y descuentos especiales en las áreas de asistencia de mercado en el gobierno federal y Defensa, acuerdos de tutoría, desarrollo de la fuerza laboral, formación de joint ventures, elaboración de propuestas técnicas, contabilidad, licitación, control de precios, horarios de GSA y certificaciones 8(a),  WOSB y SDVOSB.  

El MOU busca asegurar que las firmas minoritarias afiliadas a IMWU referidas a la FPC cuenten con las revisiones respectivas para que estén listas con respecto a certificaciones industriales y técnicas, capacidades y trayectoria.  La meta es que comunidades y grupos demográficos que han recibido pocos servicios en el pasado, se afiancen en el desarrollo económico del siglo XXI con acceso a capital, transferencia de tecnología y oportunidades de adiestramiento laboral.

For immediate release International Migrant Workers Union (IMWU) signs an MOU with the Commerce Department Washington, May 26, 2023 – The International Migrant Workers Union (IMWU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with U.S. Department of Commerce, Minority Development Agency (MBDA), Federal Procurement Center (FPC). 

The MOU was signed on May 25, 2023 by IMWU President, Jesus Sanchez Canete, and FPC Director, Keith Moore. 

The FPC, is the MBDA’s flagship hub helping Minority Business Enterprises (MBEs) secure Government contracts, under the authority of the U.S. Department of Commerce. The MBDA FPC’s critical mission extends to MBEs across the Nation, supporting them in gaining access to capital and pursuing, bidding, winning, and performing primary and subcontract Federal and Defense Contracts.

The IMWU’s mission is to represent migrant workers in the United States in collective bargaining, to promote the well-being of all members, to defend the individual collective rights of all members, and to promote harmonious and progressive worker-employer relations. 

The MOU defines the support and services the FPC agrees to undertake on behalf of the IMWU and its members that are eligible to become FPC clients. The FPC will endeavor to invite IMWU Member Company to participate in particular industry, Government, and Military contracting events and training opportunities in the various industry sectors that the FPC or its Partners are organizing. 

The IMWU will refer member companies to the FPC for support in federal procurement and special grant opportunities, including matching IMWU Minority-owned firms with large, Fortune 1000 Prime Contractors. This effort will include IMWU member firms receiving technical assistance and capacity-building support, as well as strategic teaming guidance on responding to acquisition and grant solicitation. 

The FPC will provide those support services at no cost and more extensive support, with generous discounts, in federal and defense market penetration support, federal mentor-protégé partnerships, business workforce development, joint venture formation, technical proposal writing, bid pricing/cost-control/DCAA compliant accounting, GSA schedules, and 8(a), WOSB, SDVOSB certifications.  

The MOU will ensure that any IMWU minority-owned firms referred to FPC have been pre-vetted as “shovel ready” concerning industrial/technical certifications, capabilities and capacity, and past performance record. The MOU has the goal to ensure that underserved communities and demographics are afforded 21st Century economic development, access to capital, tech transfer, and workforce training opportunities
