Welcome to United Migrant Worker’s Union “UMWU”

The UNION is the achievement of the following objectives:

• Establish an organization that represents migrant workers in the United States, regardless of their origin or nationality, in collective bargaining for the benefit of members. Promote the moral, social and economic well-being of all members. Protect and defend the individual and collective rights of all members. Promote harmonious and progressive worker-employer relations.
• Strive for the adoption of legislation, policies and other measures that promote the economic, social and general well-being of all members in particular, and of the working class in general.
• Promote the knowledge of all members regarding their rights, and obligations as union members and as workers, the current labor relations systems, the existing collective bargaining agreement (CNA) and all other matters that directly and indirectly affect the union.

As a member of the IMWU you agree to comply with the terms and conditions of IMWU membership set forth below. IMWU may change its terms and conditions of membership at any time without notice following compliance with the regulations of the United States Department of Labor and each member's continued participation in the IMWU will be deemed acceptance of such changes.

 

Membership Term

The term of IMWU membership is 12 months. Membership term is based on the anniversary date of joining the IMWU (for example, if you joined the IMWU on April 1st it means your membership expires at the end of March of the following year.) You can also choose a membership option. automatic renewal where your dues will automatically renew each year.

When the employment contract with a company has been through IMWU as a consequence of its membership, its affiliation will be for the same period of validation of said contract.

A member who is without a contract for a certain period of time must pay his monthly fee in order to be an active member and in full use of all his membership rights.

 

Application

Applicants for membership in the IMWU must submit a complete and true membership application along with payment of dues. Applicants must provide accurate contact information and select the respective membership category. Applications will be approved by the IMWU and qualified applicants will become members upon notification from the IMWU.
